Accessibility statement
Accessibility is the centre of our work, and that includes this website. We want everyone to be able to find, read and use the information here.
Our standard
This website aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. This goes beyond the WCAG 2.0 Level AA requirement under Ontario's Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
What we built in
- Works with screen readers, with clear headings, page regions and descriptive links
- Every feature works with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline
- A "Skip to main content" link at the top of every page
- Text and background colours meet WCAG AA contrast in light and dark mode
- Follows your device's light or dark setting and high contrast mode
- Text can be enlarged to 200% without losing content
- Pages reflow to a single column on small screens
- No moving content, time limits or autoplaying media
- Colour is never the only way information is shown
- Plain language and short sections
- Every page is available in English and French
- Typefaces designed for readability: Atkinson Hyperlegible Next and Lexend
- The same navigation in the same place on every page

Known limitations
- Some pages we link to, such as University of Ottawa pages and LinkedIn profiles, are managed by others and may not meet the same standard.
